Drivers enjoy a convenient network of highways and roadways that connect them to the broader Tampa Bay area and beyond, as well as ample parking options in downtown St. Pete. The public transportation system includes bus routes, a looping downtown trolley, and the SunRunner for uptown/downtown travel and out to the beaches. We have three airports, an ever-growing system of bike lanes and urban trails, car and bike share options, scooter rentals, street-legal golf carts, and a waterfront that’s home to countless marinas, a cross-bay ferry, and Florida’s largest port.
St. Pete drivers know that this mostly-gridded city is easy to get around. We’re connected to the beaches, the greater peninsula, and surrounding metro areas through a network of efficient highways, smooth toll roads, and stunning bridges with iconic views. Drivers can cross over the picturesque Sunshine Skyway Bridge to reach Bradenton and Sarasota en route to Miami, while the Howard Frankland, Gandy, and Courtney Campbell Causeway bridges connect us to Tampa, with further routes extending east and north. Clearwater and northern Pinellas County are accessible via I-275, which includes new express lanes, and the Bayside Bridge.
For travelers accessing public transportation, PSTA offers 40 bus and trolley routes with a fleet of 210 vehicles, including an express bus route from St. Pete to Tampa. St. Pete’s Looper Trolley gives free downtown rides to the city’s major museums and attractions, and the SunRunner brings folks uptown and out to the beaches and back. For daily commutes and special trips alike, there are so many options for people to get around in St. Pete.
St. Pete’s walkable downtown makes it easy to ditch the car ride in favor of some fresh air. Walk, run, cycle, skate, or board your way to the office using more than 950 miles of bike lanes, sidewalks, and shared-use trails. An ongoing commitment to creating a safe, walkable city continues to grow opportunities for people to safely travel without a car.
Getting around St. Pete has never been more fun thanks to creative options like Lime bike share, which offers smooth, eco-friendly e-bikes for rent, Veo e-scooter rentals, and street-legal golf carts. Other creative commuters making use of bike lanes and sidewalks include those riding Segways, hoverboards, and Onewheels. As new means of transportation appear, St. Pete adapts to keep people arriving safely at their destination.
Two international airports serve St. Pete, with an additional private airport situated right in downtown. Consistently ranked as one of the best airports in the country, Tampa International Airport (TPA) is just a scenic 25-minute drive away, and offers travelers nonstop flights to 90+ major hubs in the US, Canada, and around the world—plus it’s home to a 21-foot-tall flamingo named Phoebe. St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) provides 60+ nonstop flights to regional airports around the country as well as Canada. And just a few blocks south of downtown is the Albert Whitted airport, where you’ll find private charters and rentals.
For travelers who want to skip the highways, the Cross Bay Ferry offers a comfortable shuttle across Tampa Bay, connecting downtown Tampa with downtown St. Pete for an even more scenic travel option. And for companies needing to move more than just people, the Port of Tampa Bay is Florida’s largest and most cargo-diverse port.

The St. Pete EDC is located at 111 2nd Ave NE, Ste. 610, St. Petersburg, FL 33701. Parking is available in the Plaza LAZ lot located next to the building; use GPS for 221 1st St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, which is near the entrance located on 1st Street N. between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.
Parking is $5/hour for the first 3 hours and $20 thereafter; it is a card payment facility only (no cash). Visitor parking is on the 1st and 4th floors; please note there is no handicapped access from the parking garage above the first floor.
There is also surrounding street parking; pay with ParkMobile or in the Sundial Garage located 2 blocks away.
