Cathie Wood Tells Milken Institute St. Pete is ‘Young, Vibrant Town’

Although she swore she’d “never live in Florida,” ARK Invest’s Cathie Wood now describes herself as “St. Pete’s official ambassador” at the Milken Institute’s 2021 Global Conference where she discussed Tesla, crypto, China and investing.

“St. Pete is a young, vibrant town,” she says, “focused on culture, arts, music,” with “very friendly people from all over the place.” She asserts that the Tampa Bay region is very exciting, citing investments by Jeff Vinik and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Wood notes to Bloomberg’s Carole Massar that while ARK analysts work from all over the country, those pursuing a portfolio management track will be in St. Pete.

ARK Invest recently relocated to St. Petersburg and is investing in the Tampa Bay Innovation Center.
