St. Pete is on the west coast of Florida in the Tampa Bay region, about 100 miles southwest of Orlando, and 250 miles north of Miami.

St. Pete is easily accessible by air, land, and sea. Tampa International (TPA) and St. Pete-Clearwater International (PIE), two international airports within a half hour of downtown St. Pete, provide 150+ nonstop flights while charter and private air service is available to and from the waterfront’s Albert Whitted airport. Drivers from Miami to Orlando and beyond cruise I-75 to enter St. Pete via one of its iconic bridges. The nearby Port of Tampa is Florida’s largest port, and St. Pete’s many marinas welcome boaters from around the world.

St. Pete is a vibrant mid-sized city of a quarter-million+ people in the Tampa Bay region of 3.3 million people, which is projected to grow almost 10% over the next five years. It’s the 5th largest city in Florida after Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa, and Orlando. The Tampa-St. Pete-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area is the 18th largest in the country.

St. Pete is a diverse city. About two-thirds of the population is white, 20% are Black, 9% are Hispanic, and almost 6% are Asian, multiracial, or other.

About 42% of St. Pete residents have a bachelor’s degree, compared to about 35% nationwide, and 15% have a graduate degree. Median household income is about $75,000.

Tampa Bay is hard at work! Almost 8 out of 10 people in the region aged 25-64 are working or actively looking for work, and the pipeline is refreshed each year by more than 30,000 highly skilled graduates from dozens of colleges, universities, and technical schools within 100 miles.

St. Pete is a top choice for Gen Z workers and millennial professionals.

Florida has no state personal income tax and has the second-lowest state tax collections per capita. It has the #4 state business tax climate in the country (after Wyoming, South Dakota, and Alaska), and St. Petersburg is repeatedly named the best-run city in Florida.

St. Petersburg’s cost of living compares favorably to many major metros: the Sunshine City is less expensive than San Francisco (47% less), New York (38% less), Boston (38% less), Chicago (20% less), and Atlanta (5% less). The average single-family home is $374,185 and median monthly rent is $2,150.

St. Pete is headquarters to financial services company Raymond James and global manufacturer Jabil, and Foot Locker announced it’s relocating its global headquarters to St. Pete in 2025. These three Fortune 500 companies call St. Pete home, along with computer IT powerhouse TD SYNNEX in nearby Largo. The Tampa Bay metro area is second only to Miami in Fortune 500 headquarters in Florida.

Most people get to work in under half an hour, with a 26.6-minute average commute in Pinellas County.

St. Pete has 244 miles of shoreline along Tampa Bay, Boca Ciega Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, and the intracoastal waterways. Downtown St. Pete has seven miles of waterfront.

There are about 3.6 museums per mile in downtown St. Pete (9 museums overall).

Four! The Tampa Bay Rays and Tampa Bay Rowdies call St. Pete home, and along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tampa Bay Lightning make up “Champa Bay.”

There are at least seven of the world’s greatest beaches nearby, including St. Pete Beach (#1 U.S. beach, TripAdvisor), Fort DeSoto (top 10 U.S. beach, Dr. Beach), Pass-a-Grille Beach (Traveler’s Choice, TripAdvisor), Treasure Island (top 5 Florida beach, USA Today), Madeira Beach (#9 U.S. beach, TripAdvisor), Caladesi Island State Park (top 10 U.S. beach, Dr. Beach) and Clearwater (best white sand beaches in the world, Travel + Leisure), not to mention Spa Beach and North Shore Beach in downtown St. Petersburg.

The St. Pete EDC is located at 111 2nd Ave NE, Ste. 610, St. Petersburg, FL 33701.  Parking is available in the Plaza LAZ lot located next to the building; use GPS for 221 1st St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, which is near the entrance located on 1st Street N. between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.  

Parking is $5/hour for the first 3 hours and $20 thereafter; it is a card payment facility only (no cash). Visitor parking is on the 1st and 4th floors; please note there is no handicapped access from the parking garage above the first floor. 

There is also surrounding street parking; pay with ParkMobile or in the Sundial Garage located 2 blocks away.
