St. Pete’s cultural backdrop

The arts—visual and performing—are an essential economic driver for St. Pete. The city is filled with creative people working at St. Pete’s 11 museums and dozens of galleries, theaters, and musical venues. They have generated a culture that attracts the innovative and forward-thinking.

Because of this fertile creative soil, St. Pete attracts businesses focused on harnessing creativity.

Marrying marketing and technology

CitrusAd, a retail media technology company, opened its headquarters for the Americas in St. Pete in 2021. The company is a world-leading, white-label ecommerce advertising platform. Another madtech (marketing + advertising + tech) company that relocated from Connecticut to St. Pete in 2019, iSocrates, provides MADTECH.AI, a marketing, advertising, and data decision intelligence platform, which starts with integrating and transforming data from over 300+ sources.

Augmented reality

Marrying an inspiration aboard with cutting edge tech, 3D Cloud (formerly Marxent) makes immersive retail experience accessible. 3D Cloud supplies top furniture and home improvement retailers with the ability to create unique 3D product experiences, managing millions of products and billions of variants.

Solving podcast challenges

Podroll, which relocated to St. Pete from Oklahoma in 2023, helps podcasts get discovered, while Slice of Media, founded in St. Pete in 2022, leverages industry-specific content in podcasts for B2B organizations.

Piece de resistance: plenty of people

In addition to the many artists in St. Pete, local academic programs fuel the creative and design talent pool. The University of South Florida, St. Pete College, and University of Tampa offer programs in design, advertising, art, film, communications, digital media, marketing, animation, and architecture (as well as all types of tech). The Ringling College of Art & Design, the #2 top creative school in the country, is a short drive away in Sarasota. In addition, there are multiple elementary, middle, and high schools in Pinellas County with Centers for Creative Arts—the learning starts young.
