ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 28, 2019)— Jabil, (NYSE: JBL) the largest company headquartered in St. Pete with projected revenue of more than $26 billion this year, celebrated the completion of the first of four phases of construction planned as part of a $67 million expansion of its HQ campus in St. Petersburg.

The design-centric Innovation Center at 10900 Roosevelt Blvd. in St. Petersburg spans 40,000 square-feet, housing approximately 100 employees in five labs. The ribbon cutting held Thursday morning is the first of three new buildings on Jabil’s campus.

Mark Mondello, CEO of Jabil Inc.

“When it comes down to it, we’re a St. Pete company,” Jabil CEO Mark Mondello said. ” And I’ll tell you: the offers we got to move to other locations? I’m really glad we didn’t.”

Jabil has roughly 200,000 employees and 100 facilities in 29 countries, but intends to maintain its head office in St. Petersburg where it grew into a corporate powerhouse.

More than 100 engineers, researchers and technicians work in the renovated building that includes an advanced process development lab, an enterprise and infrastructure test lab, a failure analysis lab, and the lab for Nypro, a Jabil subsidiary that designs and makes products for the diagnostic, medical device, pharmaceutical delivery, and consumer health markets.

The second phase of the expansion  is already underway, clearing an older site for the construction of a 170,000-square-foot housing office and support services, including food service, a fitness center, a technology lounge and conference center. The construction phase for that building is expected to be completed by March 2021. The final phase of the project includes site and parking improvements , and is expected to be completed by December 2021.

“The new Innovation Center represents an affirmation of Jabil’s commitment to the city,” St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman said during his remarks at the grand opening celebration. “The expansion reinforces the part of the city’s vision statement that calls for St. Pete to be an innovative, creative and competitive community.”
