Chief Technology Officer at Rapidly Growing Software Company


Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Chief Technology Officer who can help us execute on one of the greatest product opportunities available in today’s business world: building the optimal management and distribution platform for companies and their attorneys. The right candidate provides leadership and manages successful implementation of development projects, all phases of development, security, infrastructure, cloud storage and performance management, testing, and the tech-component of the relationships inside and outside of the company.

Mandatory Skills:

  • The ability to fully manage product development, database/network performance, and security planning and performance
  • At least 5 years of experience as Chief Technology Officer or similar executive level who played crucial role in product development, security, managing outsourced teams, and key stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrates success building beautiful, successful products in small business environments
  • Has the ability to immediately provide leadership direction to the rest of the C-Suite, rather than vice versa
  • Has significant experience hiring key personnel/managing vendors to support software development and security, including expert consultants, architects, programmers, QAs, security supporting third parties, and database administrators
  • Manages with outstanding prioritization, time management and organization skills
  • Demonstrates ability to identify and implement process improvements to deliver projects more efficiently
  • Has experience in managing insurance claim/litigation management and analytics software
  • Has experience managing enterprise security compliance, including SOC compliance
  • Has experience managing enterprise network configurations, including Amazon

Optional Skills:

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP), or equivalent
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification such as Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • .NET development and knowledge of MS-SQL
  • Knowledge of cloud hosting

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manages the product development, database/network performance, and security planning and performance
  • Manages the project implementation plan, project scheduling, resource allocation strategy and comprehensive project documentation for assigned projects
  • Hires and manages all key tech personnel, including employees and vendors such as programmers, architects, database administrators, security auditors and consultants, QAs, and project managers and owners
  • Manages all aspects of the design, development and implementation of application development
  • Manages the complete budget and properly allocates (and reallocates) resources (time and money) to differentiating efforts.
  • Forecasts the resource utilization and capacity to achieve optimal staffing ratios and workflows within team. Establishes and maintains a resource planning process to allocate resources to approved project based upon ranked priority. Re-forecasts project timelines and/or identify additional resources requirements as project/program scope changes
  • Communicates progress effectively to the leadership team
  • Critiques completed projects to determine variations from established processes and identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Uses the combination of relevant experience and practical problem-solving skills to make effective decisions; acts decisively; anticipates future needs; and includes others’ perspectives
  • Encourages new ideas; rewards innovation; builds buy in; communicates change rationale
  • Establishes partnerships, communicates across the organization, fosters collaboration and negotiates effectively


  • Provides direction and leadership to entire product team including vendors; guides and coaches team in the completion of their day-to-day responsibilities and ensures that established policies and procedures are followed
  • Develops and maintains all teammates by applying the necessary training and leadership needed to achieve growth and advancement

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $75,000.00 to $150,000.00 /year
