Lifestyle Housing and Neighborhoods
St. Pete is characterized by 260 miles of waterfront property, but there’s much more to this city when you explore the neighborhoods that make it special. From brick streets and quaint bungalows to urban high-rises with rooftop gardens, St. Pete offers a vibe, and price range, for everyone.

With a cost of living below the national average, St. Petersburg is one of the most affordable mid-sized cities in the Southeast.
The median sales price in Pinellas County is $460,000 for a single family home and $282,500 for a condo or townhome. (Pinellas Realtor Organization, October 2024)

Several historic neighborhoods surround downtown. Tree-lined brick streets meet Craftsman-style homes, well-loved gardens, and welcoming porches. Historic Old Northeast and Old Southeast are walking or cycling distance to downtown and the waterfront. Historic Kenwood to the west of downtown is just a short drive.

Snell Isle, Venetian Isles, Tanglewood, Shore Acres, and Crisp Park are some of St. Pete’s family-friendly waterfront communities.
To the south of downtown, you’ll find waterfront neighborhoods in Old SE, and the Pink Streets. A quick highway drive south takes you to the Gulf-side, beachy neighborhoods of Tierra Verde, Pasadena, and St. Pete Beach.

St. Pete’s heart, five blocks north and south of Central Avenue, offers high-end condos and townhomes.
Ample grocery stores, convenient parking, and amenities like jogging paths and dog parks make it easy to work and live downtown.

There is a strong vision and directive to nurture disinvested St. Pete neighborhoods. The City of St. Petersburg has an active Housing Action Plan, and nonprofits like Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties are hard at work.
Hundreds of vacant, distressed homes in targeted neighborhoods such as Childs Park, Midtown, and South St. Pete are currently being rehabilitated and restored.
The rental market in St. Petersburg is thriving, with opportunities ranging from modern apartment complexes to single family homes. St. Pete offers rental options for every family, budget, and lifestyle, and many rental communities feature shared indoor and outdoor amenities to support the Florida lifestyle like pools, grills, and communal green spaces.
