SHINE St. Pete Mural Festival Captivates International Arts Community

For the fourth consecutive year, the SHINE Mural Festival returned to St. Pete, featuring six international, five national and 26 local artists, including nine wall artists, six “Coast Bike Wraps” and 12 “Corner Canvas” murals.  Led by local members of the arts community, SHINE transforms city streets into a curated, open-air museum showcasing large-scale murals.

The project illuminates the power of public art by revitalizing areas, inspiring dialogue and reflecting St. Pete’s creative spirit.

Local artists who participated in SHINE 2018 included Bekky Beukes, the Vitale Bros., Ceilia Lueza and Ya La’Ford. National artists, Angela Faustina (Georgia), Matthew Hoffman (Illinois), Gibbs Rousavall (Kentucky) and J&S Signs (Oregon) participated in SHINE 2018 along with the following international artists: Miguel Ángel Belinchón Bujes, commonly known as Belin (Spain), Nomad Clan (England), Lars Wunderlich, DAAS (Japan) and Haider Ali (Pakistan).

The SHINE Mural Festival is partnering with Coast Bike Share and Florida CraftArt to offer official SHINE bike tours during this year’s Festival, October 6 – 14

Later that evening, the Morean Arts Center hosted a Finale Reception that featured artists from the 2018 festival, local St. Pete artists, and a brief program with Mayor Rick Kriseman and Congressman Charlie Crist.
