About St. Anthony’s Hospital
St. Anthony’s Health Care Foundation was incorporated in 1981 with the purpose of advancing the mission first established by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany – to provide excellence in medical care with an emphasis on compassion. St. Anthony’s Hospital is a 448-bed hospital founded in 1931 as a ministry of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, N.Y. The hospital, which employs about 2,000 team members, has a rich history dedicated to improving the health of the community by providing high-quality, innovative and compassionate care.
In 2022, the hospital continued its commitment to caring for the community by opening a patient tower with 90 private rooms. The hospital continues to build for the future with an expansion of the emergency department with an emphasis on providing an enhanced environment for behavioral health patients. The hospital is also expanding its imaging capabilities to meet the needs of the community. Part of BayCare Health System, St. Anthony’s Hospital is located at 1200 Seventh Ave. N in St. Petersburg.

Why St. Anthony’s invests in the St. Pete EDC
Scott explained why St. Anthony’s invests in the EDC, saying, “As St. Pete continues to expand and the hospital and BayCare adapt and innovate to accommodate that growth, we see the importance of attracting new companies that bring jobs, innovation, and investment to our community. These company executives, their employees, and their families are our future patients, volunteers, donors, and employees. We want to be part of bringing them here.”
Mike Swesey, president & CEO of the St. Pete EDC expressed his appreciation for the organization, saying, “St. Anthony’s is truly one of the pillars of our community. Having a strong healthcare system is an important consideration for companies considering relocation to St. Pete, and we’re fortunate to have a leader in that system like St. Anthony’s as a Trustee in the EDC. And, of course, the Triathlon introduces St. Pete to people from around the country every year!”
