Tampa Bay Ranked 4th Cutting-Edge Metro in Startups vs Total Businesses

More than one of every five businesses in the Tampa Bay metro area is a start-up according to Commercial Cafe, which ranks the region #4 in startups vs total businesses.

With startups representing 20.11% of the area’s businesses, Tampa Bay ranks just after Austin (21.60%), Salt Lake City (21.02%), and Dallas-Fort Worth (20.19%).

Commercial Cafe ranked the top 30 cutting-edge metros in the United States by evaluating startups vs. total businesses, broadband access, EV stations, Internet speed, Energy Star buildings, green office buildings, green units, tech and green employment, bikesharing stations, and residences with EV access. Tampa Bay was ranked the #18 cutting-edge metro overall.

The growth of Tampa Bay’s startup ecosystem has put this region on the national map, attracting the 2022 Startup of the Year Summit, and startups like artificial intelligence-enabled career exploration platform Shamrck, which recently relocated to St. Pete.
